Firebush, scientifically known as Hamelia patens, is a large, fast-growing shrub or small tree native to the American subtropics and tropics. It's characterized by its densely branched structure, large, whorled leaves, and showy, bright orange-red, tubular flowers that attract hummingbirds and butterflies. The plant also produces small berries that are a favorite among birds. This shurb grows best in full sun but will tolerate partial shade.  It does not require irrigation once established.
