Blue agave, scientifically known as Agave tequilana, is a succulent plant native to Jalisco, Mexico, prized for its role in tequila production. It's characterized by its blue-green, spiky leaves and large size. The heart of the plant, called the "piña," is harvested and used to produce the agave nectar that is fermented and distilled into tequila. This drought tolerant plant can be grown without irrigation and is known to get over 5 feet tall with a flower spike that can be 20 feet.
